Me and Mona

Hi Gang...

You go to a beautiful destination (in this case, the San Juan Islands in Washington) for a few days of relaxation, and the last thing you expect to see is, well, her.

A camel named Mona, who lives on Friday Harbour.  It's a long story as to how she got there, but here's a link to give you all the details.  

Mona is extremely friendly (as the picture indicates).  Loves people (and apples).  She'll probably live till 55 or 60 years old.  She has an alpaca for a companion (strictly platonic, as the story we heard about the male alpaca trying to make the moves on Mona has made the alpaca a bit tentative around the camel).

Who knew how friendly a camel could be?   If you ever go back there, say hi to Mona for me.

Room Service, Please...

Thanks to my friend Sue Pelletier and her great blog for my finding out about this.  Within WikiHow, there's a page that explains how to cook various foods in your hotel room, using things such as your coffee maker and iron.  Hmmm, how hungry would I need to be to use the iron as a skillet?

While I love Alton, for me, I'll stick with Room Service.
